Trip Overview

The Everest Base Camp Trek is Nepal’s classic high-altitude journey through the Khumbu, combining dramatic Himalayan scenery with the living culture of Sherpa communities. This carefully paced 15-day itinerary begins and ends in Kathmandu, includes two acclimatization days, and follows the renowned teahouse trail from Lukla to Everest Base Camp. From the Dudh Koshi valley, the route climbs through Sagarmatha National Park to Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche and Gorak Shep. Along the way, trekkers cross suspension bridges, visit Buddhist settlements and monasteries, and enjoy changing views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Pumori. The trek reaches Everest Base Camp at approximately 5,364 m and Kala Patthar at approximately 5,545 m, the itinerary’s highest point and its finest close-range Everest viewpoint. This is a strenuous trek rather than a technical climb; good fitness, gradual ascent, suitable insurance and a flexible approach to mountain weather are essential.
